Good morning. We are producing an Electric Vehicle (EV) for 4th quarter 2008. We are producing 600 units 2008 and 17,200 in 2009. We are looking for a "reliable" NiMH battery supplier along w/the pricing that will allow us to keep our vehicles competitive. We believe with the volume we can offer your firm, you will be able to produce for less, and sell at a level workable for our production. NICKEL PRICES HAVE DROPPED ALMOST 50% IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. We require OEM pricing delivered to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). If your pricing is workable, we will need a set of test batteries delivered in the next 2 weeks to install in our prototypes. The initial vehicle will have a gross weight of 3000# (Lbs), and only travel a maximum speed of 35 mph. We require a distance per charge of 80 miles (aiming for 120 miles). Charging from a 110V and/or 220V lines. BG is using a 48V, 18 HP motor in our first line of vehicles. We will require the battery to deliver 300 amperes at 48 volts for 20 seconds for acceleration to 35 mph or for hill climbing. After reaching governed speed or cresting a hill, the current drain will drop back to 90 amperes. Please include the number of batteries or type of pack you recommend, the size of each battery and/or pack and OEM price for quantity purchases. We also need to know if you can produce enough quantity to supply our requirements. If you can offer other competitive technology proven solutions other than NiMH, we welcome your advice and opinion. We look forward to your prompt reply. Sincerely, Barry D. Bernsten President |
